Parole violators can be returned to prison even if they are never reconvicted for another crime. They may return to prison for a parole violation like missing a parole meeting or leaving the state without permission. Technical violations account for almost half of the parolees returning to prison. Most spend a few months inside, just enough time to have them reprocessed and released.
